Measurement Year:  The year to use in finding out if you can afford the life style you desire.

 

Initial Investment Value:  The amount of your current investments.

 

Assumed Rate of Return Before Taxes:  How much you expect to earn year (compounded) on your current investments.

 

Assumed Inflation Rate:  What you expect the inflation rate to be during the measurement period.

 

Applicable Income Tax Bracket:  The rate of income tax on your investment income (your highest tax bracket, combined state and federal).

 

After-Tax Income Goal - Current $:  The amount of after-tax income you desire at the measurement year, expressed as current dollars (no inflation adjustment).

 

Inflation Adjusted Needs Measurement Year:  The year in which you desire the after-tax income entered above.

 

Surplus (Shortfall) on After-Tax Income:  The difference between your after tax needs and forecast after tax income at the measurement year.

 

Inflation Adjusted Fund Value at End of Measurement Year:  What your investment value should be at the measurement year, adjusted for inflation.
